Halógen pera

Bíla halógen perur innihalda halógen lofttegundir eins og joð eða bróm. Við háan hita bregst undirlimaður wolframvír efnafræðilega við halógen og ljósið sem gefur frá sér er gult, sýnir heitan ljósan lit og tiltölulega dökkt. Halógenfroða er aðallega úr kvarsi og ryðfríu járni.

Halógenlampi er endurbót á glóperunni, hann heldur kostum glóperunnar: einfalt, ódýrt, auðvelt að stilla og stjórna birtustigi, góð litaendurgjöf (Ra=100). Á sama tíma vinna halógenlampar yfir marga ókosti glóperanna, svo sem stuttan endingartíma og lága birtuskilvirkni.

Halogen lamps are made of tungsten wire, but are encased in a smaller quartz glass shell. Because the glass shell is so close to the filament, it will melt easily if it is made of glass. The gas inside the glass shell is composed of different gases to form the halogen lamp group. These gases have a very interesting property: they combine with tungsten vapors. If the temperature is not high enough, the tungsten atoms bound to the halogen gas evaporate and redeposit on the filament. This cycle makes the filament last for a long time. Plus, it can run hot filaments, which means you get more light energy. You're still getting a lot of heat, but because the quartz shell is so close to the filament, it's hotter than a normal bulb.
